Where do we leave from? All prospecting trips depart from the Albuquerque, New Mexico area. We all meet at the Owl Cafe', located right off the Eubank exit on Interstate-40. Driving time to the prospecting site is a little over 1 hour... we form a convoy and everyone follows us in their own vehicles. We do not travel on any mountainous or unimproved roads, so any vehicle can be driven out to the site without worry. Everyone is supplied with a long-range walkie-talkie so we all can communicate at any time, while driving, or if you happen wander off while prospecting.

Can we go out to the prospecting site in your vehicle? If we're not bringing any large equipment and we've only got a small group (2 or 3 people total) that are going prospecting, yes, you're welcome to squeeze in our vehicle and ride along with us. Please check with us first.

Do I have to climb mountains once at the site? All locations on our day trip are at or near ground level, or located on small hills. As long as you are physically fit enough to hike a short distance and walk on rough terrain, you'll have no problems. You will however, be digging in soil & kneeling on rocky terrain. Expect to get a tad dirty.

What do I need to bring? We provide all the prospecting equipment & tools you may need during your trip, but you will need to dress accordingly. You'll be hiking on rough & rocky terrain and kneeling in the dirt, so hiking boots, gloves, long pants & a hat for sun protection are strongly suggested.

What time do I need to be ready to go? We generally leave the Owl Cafe' 9 am Saturday or Sunday morning. Return times pretty much depend on how long you'd like to stay, but we typically arrive back in Albuquerque just before it gets dark.

Can I keep the Uranium that I find? Absolutely! Many of our customers that go with us on prospecting trips are avid collectors and keep what they find for their personal collections. Several customers have sold the ore they found and paid for their trip many times over.

How do I sign up for a trip? Simply email or call us with the dates you'll be in the Albuquerque area and we'll let you know our prospecting schedule for that weekend.
Prospecting trips are typically on Saturday. Sunday is also available, but there are no museum tours on Sunday.

How much does it cost? Our day prospecting trip is $100.00 per person.

How old do you have to be to attend? You must be at least 18 years old to accompany us on a prospecting trip. If you're under 18, you will need to be accompanied a parent or guardian.
