Pocket-sized, simple
to operate and loaded with features. This is our favorite general
purpose Geiger Counter. Designed to measure very low levels of
radiation, this unit is quite amazing.
It's perfect for detecting contamination in any material.
Used by Hospitals, Scrap Metal Yards, Postal Inspectors, Customs Agents,
Homeland Security, etc.
Features a large LCD display, illuminated by a backlight for easy
viewing in dimly lit rooms. Both the audio and backlight can be set on
or off via the set-up menu. The unit will display its radiation reading
un either uR/hr (U.S. standard) or international uSv/hr.
Will read from 0 to 999 uR/hr or 0 to 9.99 uSv/hr.
The unit will also take average background readings in 40 second cycles
- and then display the results. This produces a background radiation
reading of very high accuracy and enables the user to detect even the
slightest increase in radiation in the immediate area.
Great for finding radioactive antique items.
Not really recommended for prospecting, although you can use it for that
purpose. Uranium ores are generally too
radioactive and will exceed the units maximum reading of 999 uR/hr.
However, if an exact numerical measurement isn't required while
prospecting, it can still be used and will just "beep" faster
and faster with the higher radiation levels encountered and the display
will continue to read its maximum of 999.
One of our
favorite instruments - just about our entire staff has purchased one for
their own use.
Uses 2 ordinary
"AAA" batteries.
