Like all radioactive samples sold by United Nuclear, the radiation levels measured are
combined Beta and Gamma radiation.
We never include Alpha radiation measurements as that produces a deceivingly high reading.

A certificate of accurate radiation measurement is included with all samples.

Typical High Level Uranium Ore samples

High Level Uranium Ore samples are generally more radioactive than most pieces of Uranium ore found.
Currently, all our High Level Ore samples are the Uranium mineral Torbernite (green crystals).
High Level Ore samples are excellent general purpose radiation sources for a variety of experiments.
They are also ideal for HazMat training or practice in locating radioactive materials with radiation detection equipment. Radioactive ore samples are far stronger, and considerably less expensive than pure radioactive isotope sources. They can be sealed in a zip-loc bag for most uses so any chips or small particles will not get lost with rough handling (the radiation they emit easily penetrates the zip-loc bag). Although they are safe to handle with your hands, it is prudent to wash your hands after handling the samples to prevent ingesting radioactive chips or fine particles that may fall of the rocks.
All samples are guaranteed to measure between 20,000 CPM and 39,000 CPM.
Samples typically measure anywhere from about 2" across to 3.5" across.
