Inhalation: Move victim to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration. Get medical attention immediately. Notify doctor of possible Barium poisoning.
Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash contact area (s) with plenty of water.
Eye Contact: Hold eyelids open and flush with water for minimum of 15 - 20 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.
Ingestion Contact: Induce vomiting and call a physician. Have victim drink aqueous 10% solution of magnesium or sodium sulfate. For severe intoxication, calcium or a magnesium salt may have to be given I.V. with caution. Treatment otherwise is supportive and symptomatic. Alert Doctor of possible Barium Poisoning. Get medical attention immediately.
5.) FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Extinguishing Media: For small fires, do not use dry chemicals, CO2, Halon, or foams; USE WATER ONLY. For large fires, flood fire area with water from safe distance. For massive fires, use unmanned hose holders or monitor nozzles.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Non-flammable, but may cause fire on contact with combustibles. When mixed with combustibles, friction may cause ignition
Fire and Explosion Hazards: Containers may explode in fire.
Hazardous Combustion Products: Produces toxic fumes when involved in fire.
Protective Measure in Fire: Avoid contact with solid and dusts. Avoid breathing toxic fumes from fire. Keep people away. Fight fire from safe distance or protected location. Dike runoff water for later disposal (Toxic).
6.) ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal Precaution in Spill: Utilize recommended protective clothing and equipment.
Environment: Restrict access to spill area. If material enters waterway, notify local health, pollution control agencies, and operators of nearby water intakes.
Spill Clean Up: Dike ahead of spill to prevent contamination of natural waterways. Clean spills in a manner that does not disperse dust into the air. Spill area can be washed with water. Collect wash water for approved disposal.
