Easy
to operate, rugged for rough outdoor use, and high precision.
This unit is used by virtually every research, nuclear &
government facility in the USA,.. not to mention hospitals, homeland
security departments, etc.
These Geiger Counters & Probes are Brand New, factory fresh, and
fully warranted for a period of 1 year.
Each unit is individually tested and supplied with a certificate of
calibration.
Modern IC technology and state-of-the-art design make this a
fantastically accurate and reliable unit. Can be used with either the
standard Beta-Gamma probe, or the highly sensitive Alpha-Beta-Gamma
probe. Probes are interchangeable with no adjustment necessary.
Perfect for just about any low to moderate radiological use, the
Professional Geiger Counter is used by Scientists, Prospectors, Border
Patrols, Hobbyists, Rock Collectors Engineers and Technicians all over
the world.
The Professional Geiger Counter comes complete
with a Uranium ore sample so you can test the unit at any time. Uses 2 ordinary
"D" batteries.
Uses either one of the optional probes listed below.

Scintillator
Probes
Extremely high sensitivity, Scintillator-type
probes.
These probes contain a Thallium doped Sodium Iodide NaI(Tl) crystal and
an optical detection
(photomultiplier) tube. When Gamma radiation strikes the crystal, it
produces microscopic flashes of light that are picked up & amplified
by the photomultiplier tube sealed inside. This signal is in turn sent
to the Geiger Counter the probe is plugged into. Scintillator probes can detect radiation from
great distances and are even usable in aircraft for ground radiation
survey. Basically the larger the crystal is, the more sensitive the probe is. As a comparison, we tested a standard 'Hot Dog' probe on a small
pile of Uranium ore tailings near an abandon mine. The Hot Dog probe
detected the radioactive tailings pile about 6 feet away. Using our
smallest Scintillator probe ( 1" x 1" NaI(Tl) crystal ),
we detected the same tailings pile 150 feet away.
Scintillator probes are available with a 1"
x 1"
crystal,
2" x 2"
crystal, or a 3" x 3"
crystal.
Use for: Long
range/high sensitivity radiation detection.
Detector Type: magnetically
shielded photomultiplier & thallium doped sodium iodide crystal.
Operating Voltage: Typically
500 - 1200 volts
Connector: Series "C"
Construction: Aluminum housing with
polyurethane enamel paint
Temperature Range: -4° F(-20° C) to 122° F(50° C)
