United Nuclear
Scientific Moving
We're moving for several reasons,
but the main one is the critical need for more space.
We have hundreds and hundreds of new products that we simply have no
where to stock - making it impossible to pack & ship them.
For this reason, we've never included them on our website.
In addition, United Nuclear Scientific manufactures a wide range of some
pretty neat scientific gadgets such as: Nuclear Cloud Chambers, Jet
Engines, High Voltage Power Supplies, Tesla Coils, Tornado Simulators,
etc., etc.
We haven't had the room or trained personnel to manufacture these
products in quite a long time, and a lot of customers have been
patiently waiting for them to become available again.
A move to a new facility will change all this.
We also receive a tremendous amount of requests from customers who would
love to be able to visit a retail showroom where they can physically
check out our products and purchase them in person.
Having a retail location open to the public will also enable us to sell
some products that we could not previously sell on our website due to
shipping restrictions.
Products like common acids,
invaluable in countless chemistry experiments and formulations, have
been impossible to ship due to hazmat restrictions and shipping costs
(it would cost close to $200.00 to ship $10.00 worth of acid to a
customer).
Products that we previously couldn't sell because they were too
difficult or too expensive to ship due to their hazardous nature,
physical size or weight, will now be able to be purchased at our retail
shop.
The building we've chosen is located on E. Grand River St. in the middle
of downtown Laingsburg .This will serve as our retail sales &
showroom location for an estimated 3 years. After that, we expect to
relocate to a larger building within Laingsburg, or possibly occupying
the same building as our Hydrogen Fuel System division, which will also
be starting up in Laingsburg within the next year or so. Having both
businesses under one roof would have a lot of advantages.
We don't have an exact date set for our move, although we have started
packing and shipping some equipment.
Our move is expected to occur some time within the next couple of
months.
The most likely scenario is that we will shut down operations on a
Thursday and get everything loaded and on the trucks by that weekend.
Getting everything to Laingsburg is expected to take 3 to 5 days.
It will probably take an additional week to get everything unloaded and
orders processing & shipping again.
The showroom portion of the building will require a bit more time to get
set up, so walk-in sales may not start for an additional week.
To speed our order processing,
we'll finally be switching over to a fully computerized order processing
& tracking system - the same system used by virtually all major
retailers. This will give us the ability to check on the current stock
of an item or progress of an order at any time and get packages to
customers in just a few days instead of weeks.
The local community along with
the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership, LBA and Baker college
have been very helpful in making our transition go smoothly. The folks
at Baker College of Owosso will be conducting our employee screening.
If you live in the area and a job with United Nuclear Scientific sounds
